PROJECT OVERVIEW

On the auspicious Independence Day of 2022, as the entire nation came together to commemorate the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we proudly contributed our part to this momentous occasion with the breathtaking Bahu Fort son et lumierein the heart of Jammu. This event marked a significant milestone as we celebrated 75 years of independence.

Our show was meticulously crafted to capture the essence and splendour of Jammu city. It paid homage to the Tavi River, the spiritual sanctuaries, and the profound history and culture that define this magnificent region. However, the true star of our presentation was the iconic Bahu Fort, which graciously embraced our creative vision, transforming into a radiant canvas for our performance.

The tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of our team were evident as the carefully designed content unfolded, casting a spellbinding spectacle upon the grand facade of Bahu Fort. It was a moment of immense pride and satisfaction, knowing that our dedicated efforts for the show had culminated in an unforgettable experience for all who witnessed it. As we looked back on those countless days of hard work, we couldn’t help but feel that every ounce of effort had been richly rewarded by the sheer magnificence of the Bahu Fort son et lumierein.

What did the client want to achieve?

The client had a clear vision regarding a few concerns they wished to address, which are as follows:

1. In the wake of Jammu’s transformation into a Union Territory, there was an ardent desire to illuminate its rich heritage, celebrate local traditions, and showcase the unparalleled beauty of the region. A son et lumierein was the first idea to attract people.

2. Jammu Smart City, in its quest to celebrate the “Amrit Mahotsav” marking 75 years of Indian independence, sought a grand gesture that could encapsulate all these aspirations in a single awe-inspiring event.

3. The aim was to uplift the Dogri culture and introduce people to the beauty of this language through local talent.

The Bahu Fort Son et Lumière is a visionary endeavour aimed at fulfilling these ambitions. This monumental undertaking was conceived with the goal of providing a comprehensive exploration of Jammu’s multifaceted identity. It stands as a testament to the resilience, culture, and spirit of this land.

The show was meticulously crafted to weave together the tapestry of Jammu’s heritage, encompassing its diverse beliefs, traditions, and natural splendour.

Scope of work your company was involved in

Magical Theatre embarked on an exciting journey that encompassed a comprehensive scope of work, providing a turnkey solution to the client.

Content Creation: Our journey commenced with content development, where we meticulously crafted a captivating narrative for the project. Drawing from our expertise in storytelling and creativity, we wove together a compelling storyline that would resonate with audiences.

This involved:
• Research
• Scriptwriting
• Voiceovers
• Music creation
• 2D/3D elements creation
• Audio-visual production
• Mapping at site
• Programming at site
• Compiling and execution of the content

Integration at the Site: As it is a high-voltage site surrounded by the military, with an old and famous temple inside the premises and an ASI heritage site, we meticulously synchronized the content with the site’s infrastructure, ensuring a seamless and immersive experience for visitors.

Operation and Maintenance: We are responsible for operating and maintaining the project for a span of three years. This encompasses regular inspections, technical support, and ongoing enhancements to ensure that the show enchants and engages its audience effectively.

What key challenges were faced?

The key challenges we faced during the Bahu Fort project are as follows:
Facade Area:
• The facade area designated for projection differed from our initial vision.

Multiple Authorities:
• Multiple authorities were involved on the site, resulting in different permissions required for various areas of the site, including museum authorities, temple authorities, the heritage department, ASI, etc.
• The seating gallery was located over the museum, so permissions were required to safeguard their interests too.

Preservation of Heritage Sites:
• The heritage site required careful preservation during the installation process.
• Installing hardware and equipment required meticulous planning and precision to prevent any harm to the site.
• The grand show had to be created with minimalist installation without harming the site.

Research:
• Proper research was required, focusing on capturing small-small historical details.
• The local flavor needed to be highlighted in the script, music, and visuals.

Tight Timeline:
• The show was scheduled to be inaugurated on August 15, 2022, providing only 25 days for content development.
• The limited time frame posed a significant challenge in developing high-quality content for the show.

How were those challenges resolved?

Facade Area:
The façade designated was restricted , we extended the area and with our designs we were able to convince the authorities that our plan is to gel the projection with illumination to achieve uniformity and enhance the scale of projection.

Multiple Authorities:
Dedicated personnel ensured adherence to site protocols and successfully obtained permissions from various site authorities.

Preservation of Heritage Sites:
Experts were engaged from the project’s inception to ensure that our installation would harmonise with the heritage site.
We have maintained a proper distance from the façade while installing equipment minding a desired distance from the façade. All the installation was kept minimalistic, to blend the show with the natural aesthetics of the site.

Research:
Local scholar researchers were taken onboard and we get what we require with proper authentication of the facts used.
The popular local personalities like Mrs. Padmani Sachdev (for her poem) and Mr. Jitendra Jamwal (Voice over) were taken onboard to highlight the Dogri culture.

Tight Timeline:
Despite a stringent timeline, the team’s tireless efforts and extended working hours ensured the show’s inauguration on August 15, 2022, as promised even though authority approvals took longer than expected.
